User role definitions

Roles control what a user can see and do in the Global Commerce user interface.

For more about how user roles work, see User roles. To learn how to assign user roles, see How to create a user.

The following table outlines the roles you can assign to Global Commerce users. When using this table, not the following:

  • You set a role at the site or company level. The level determines whether you perform the tasks just for the selected site or for all sites within a company.
  • The menu paths will help you identify how to find those features and pages where you can perform the actions the role allows you to do.
Internal Only Role Level Description
  Add-on Item Manager  

This user role allows the user to configure add-on pages, including defining how the system builds a page and uses add-on data.

  Add-on Manager  

This user role allows the user to use add-ons for a site, including display, trigger, and feed add-ons.

No Catalog Manager Company

This user role allows the user to access to the catalog, including product features, categories, subscriptions, and tags. The user can also preview sites.

  • View and edit catalogs (but not create)

    Path: Catalog > Catalogs and Categories > Manage Catalogs

  • Create, edit, and delete categories

    Path: Catalog > Catalogs and Categories > Manage Categories

  • Create, edit, copy, retire, deploy, search, and view products

    Path: Catalog > Products > Manage Products

  • Use the Catalog Import and Export features

    Path: All "Import and Export" menu options within the Catalog menu.

  • Configure the Product Import and Export spreadsheet. See Importing and exporting products or more information.

No Catalog Supervisor Company

This user role allows the user to use the Nitro feature.

No Charge Manager Company

This user role allows the user to look up orders in fraud.

No Client Credit Manager Site

This user role allows the user to:

  • Manage Client Credit Plus accounts (create, apply payments, set limits, and so on).

    Path: Administration > Site > Manage Client Credit Plus

  • Edit the Payment Method settings on the Configure Site Settings page.

No Client Credit Payments Site

This user role allows the user to enter payments and adjustments for funds received and to increment the amount of available credit.

No Client Ticket Manager Company

This user role allows the user to use the client ticketing feature.

  Company Administrator Company

This user role allows the user to control the administrative privileges for a company, which includes control of the Catalog Administrator and CSR roles. A Company Administrator cannot perform a shopping role.

This user role allows the user to:

  • Create and edit compare pages.

This user role allows the user to:

  • Create, edit, preview, copy, deploy, and view history2 for themes and styles.  See Themes and styles for more information.

No Customer Service Approver (CSA) Company

This user role allows the user to approve returns, refunds, and replacements that require approval.

No Customer Service Configuration Manager Site

This user role allows the user to configure customer service settings, including reason codes and approval levels for returns, refunds, and replacements.

No Customer Service Representative (CSR) Company

This user role allows the user to access most of Customer Service features, including order look up, refunds, returns, and so on.

No Customer Service Supervisor (CSS)3 Company

This user role allows the user to use all Customer Service features, including the ability to override site settings for Customer Service features.

CSR and CSS roles have similar privileges and system access. However, the CSS role has higher rights to perform certain actions.

Example: A CSS can refund the total amount for an order, while a CSR cannot. When assigning roles to users, you only need to assign one of the Customer Service roles.

This user role allows the user to create and manage application keys that allow access to Digital River Documentation.

This user role allows the user to manage chargebacks and disputed orders.

  DPL Administrator  

This user role allows the user to administer denied party lists for Fraud.

  DPL Representative  

This user role allows the user to view denied party screens and fraud screens.

No Email Notification Manager  

This user role allows the user to manage email notifications feature.

No Fee Administrator

 

This user role allows the user full access to Company Fees features and restricted access to System Fees features and Jurisdictions. Also provides access to bulk import and export for company fees.

You assign the Fee Administrator role in a system called "Big Blue," not Global Commerce.

A Fee Administrator can:

  • Create, edit, delete, deploy, or retire company fees
  • Create or edit jurisdictions
  • View system fees
  • Use the bulk import and export tool (company fees only)
No Fee Approver  

This user role allows the user full access to Company Fees features, System Fees features, and Jurisdictions. Also gives access to bulk import and export for company fees.

You assign the Fee Approver role in a system called "Big Blue," not Global Commerce.

A Fee Approver can:

  • Create, edit, delete, deploy, or retire company fees
  • Create, edit, delete, deploy, or retire system fees
  • Create, edit, delete, deploy, or retire jurisdictions or classifications within a fee
  • Use the bulk import and export tool (company and system fees)
No File Upload Manager Site

This user role allows the user to upload and download resources files (images, CSS, and so on) in Site Implementation and Templates.

This user role allows the user to review Digital River's fraud systems (UK).

  Fulfiller  

This user role allows the user to manage the inventory for one or more companies. They can manage inventory levels on a per-product basis.

Note: This is a privileged role reserved for the IDM and Security team only.

  Host Administrator  

This user role allows the user to manage the inventory for one or more companies. They can manage inventory levels on a per-product basis.

No Integration Configurations Manager Company

This user role allows the user to create and edit custom integrations. See Integration exceptions and Managing custom integrations for more information.

This user role allows the user to view and approve legal agreements.

This user role allows the user to create, edit, and delete mapped parameters, as well as view and upload.

No Merchandising Deployment Manager Site

This user role allows the user to deploy offers that were set up to restrict deployment for a site.

No Merchandising Discount Manager Site

This user role allows the user to set the discount amount or discount percentage in marketing offers. Merchandising Discount Managers cannot create new offers, just set the discount for an existing offer. To create an offer, you would also need the Merchandising Manager role.

This user role allows the user to:

  • Create and edit marketing offers.

    However the user cannot set the discount or pricing for an offer. To set the discount for an offer, the user also needs the Merchandising Discount Manager role.

This user role allows the user to:

  • Access reports in Global Commerce.
  • View Business Navigator reports for all sites owned by the company.
