User role definitions

Roles control what a user can see and do in the Global Commerce user interface.

The following table outlines the roles you can assign to Global Commerce users. When using this table, not the following:

You set a role at the site or company level. The level determines whether you perform the tasks just for the selected site or for all sites within a company.
The menu paths will help you identify how to find those features and pages where you can perform the actions the role allows you to do.

Add-on Item Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to configure add-on pages, including defining how the system builds a page and uses add-on data. Path: Storefront > Store Builder > Manage Add-on Items
Add-on Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to use add-ons for a site, including display, trigger, and feed add-ons. Path: Storefront > Store Builder > Manage Add-ons
Backup Media Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to create and edit Backup Media configurations. Digital River internally refers to this role as backupCDManager.
Bid Management	Company and Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the Bid Management report.
Business Intelligence Data Extracts	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access business intelligence data extracts.
Buying Company Approver	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to approve or deny requests to create tax-exempt buying organizations.
Catalog Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the catalog, including product features, categories, subscriptions, and tags. The user can also preview sites. View and edit catalogs (but not create) Path: Catalog > Catalogs and Categories > Manage Catalogs Create, edit, and delete categories Path: Catalog > Catalogs and Categories > Manage Categories Create, edit, copy, retire, deploy, search, and view products Path: Catalog > Products > Manage Products Use the Catalog Import and Export features Path: All "Import and Export" menu options within the Catalog menu. Catalog Supervisor	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to use the Nitro feature.
Checkout Flow Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to configure the site checkout flow and lock or unlock Store Builder features. Note: To edit the Checkout settings, you also need the Template Designer role. Path: Administration > Site > Configure Site Settings. Select the Checkout tab, then scroll to the Flow area.
Client Credit Plus Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage Client Credit Plus accounts (create, apply payments, set limits, and so on) and edit the Payment Method settings. Digital River internally refers to this role as lineOfCreditManager. Paths: Administration > Site > Configure Site Settings Path: Administration > Site > Manage Client Credit Plus
Client Credit Plus Payments	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to enter payments and adjustments for funds received increment the available credit amount. Digital River internally refers to this role as lineOfCreditPayments. Path: Administration > Site > Manage Client Credit Plus
Client Ticket Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to use the client ticketing feature.
Company Fee Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage company fees.
Company Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows the user to define company defaults, use the Import and Export Hierarchy feature, and use the SKU Mapping Import and Export feature1. See Importing or exporting a company hierarchy and for more information. Paths: Administration > Company > Import and Export Company Hierarchy Administration > Company > Configure Product Setup (click "Configure Default Values" in the taskbar). Note: You need the Catalog Manager This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the catalog, including product features, categories, subscriptions, and tags. Compare Page Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage themes and styles, use Store Builder files, manage history for storefront links, view compare pages, view the Configure Site Settings page. The user can also preview their store, including the following store objects: products, styles, themes, content layouts, custom pages, offers, site templates, and Site Optimizer tests. See and How to preview your store for more information. Note: To preview your store, you need this role or one of the roles that allows the user to preview. Compliance Administrator	Site	This Global Commerce role allows users to add or edit the ECCN/USML code.
Configure Flow Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage the flow configuration.
Content Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage themes ans styles, use Store Builder files, manage history for storefront links, view compare pages, view the Configure Site Setting pages and preview their store. See Themes and styles, Files, Configuring site settings, How to preview your store for more information. Note: To preview your store, you need this role or one of the roles that allows the user to preview. To place a test order, you need the Test Order Manager This Global Commerce user role lets users preview the store and place test orders. role. Costing Deployer	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to deploy Intersite contracts (old Intersite Contract) after the ADM Director (Contract Director) performs the first layer of approval. Digital River internally refers to this role as contractDeployer.
Customer Service Approver (CSA)	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to approve returns, refunds, and replacements that require approval. Path: Customer Service
Customer Service Configuration Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to configure customer service settings, including reason codes and approval levels for returns, refunds, and replacements. Path: Administration > Site > Configure Customer Service Settings
Customer Service Representative (CSR)	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access most Customer Service features, including order lookup, refunds, returns, etc. Digital River internally refers to this role as customerServiceRep. Path: Customer Service
Customer Service Supervisor (CSS)³	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to use all Customer Service features, including the ability to override site settings for Customer Service features. CSR and CSS roles have similar privileges and system access. However, the CSS role has higher rights to perform certain actions. Example: A CSS can refund the total amount for an order, while a CSR cannot. When assigning roles to users, you only need to assign one of the Customer Service roles. Path: Customer Service
Denied Parties Representative	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to view denied party screens and fraud screens.
Digital River Connect Developer	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to create and manage application keys, enabling access to Commerce API. Digital River internally refers to this role as drConnectDeveloper. Path: Administration > Company > Manage Application Keys
Dispute Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage chargebacks and disputed orders.
Email Dashboard	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the Email tab on the Reporting dashboard.
Email Notification Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage email notifications feature for marketing purposes.
Fee Administrator	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users full access to Company Fees features and restricted access to the System Fees features and Jurisdictions. It also provides access to bulk import and export for company fees. Digital River assigns this role, but it is unavailable in Global Commerce. Note: Users do not need the Fee Administrator This Global Commerce user role allows users full access to Company Fees features and restricted access to the System Fees features and Jurisdictions. It also provides access to bulk import and export for company fees. Digital River assigns this role, but it is unavailable in Global Commerce. or Fee Approver This Global Commerce user role allows users full access to Company Fees features, System Fees features, and Jurisdictions. File Upload Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to upload and download resources files (images, CSS, and so on) in Site Implementation and Templates. Paths: Store Builder > Site Implementation > Upload Resources Store Builder > Site Implementation > Download Resources Administration > Templates > Upload Resources Administration > Templates > Download Resources
Integration Configurations Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to create and edit custom integrations. See Integration exceptions and Managing custom integrations for more information. Path: Administration > Company > Manage Custom Integrations
Integration Exceptions Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to view and manage integration exceptions. See Integration exceptions and Managing integration exceptions for more information. Path: Administration > Company > Integration Exceptions
Inventory Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to edit the Individual Inventory Options page and the Manage Product Inventory page.
Inventory Viewer	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to view the Individual Inventory Options and Manage Product Inventory pages.
Legal Agreement Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to view and approve legal agreements. Path: Administration > Company > Legal Agreements
Lifetime Value	Company and Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the Lifetime Value Management tab of the reporting dashboard.
Made to Order Product Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage products that shoppers custom-build from a group of options.
Mapped Parameters Set Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to view mapped parameters.
Mapped Parameters Set Viewer	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to view mapped parameters.
Merchandising Dashboard	Company and Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the Merchandising tab of the reporting dashboard. The user can create offers, list offers, modify pricing, and any other task associated with merchandising for the company or company's site.
Merchandising Deployment Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to deploy offers for a site. Path: Marketing > Offers and Programs
Merchandising Discount Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to set the discount amount or percentage in marketing offers. Merchandising Discount Managers cannot create new offers; they can update the discount for an existing offer. To create an offer, you need the Merchandising Manager role. Path: Marketing > Offers and Programs > Manage Offers
Merchandising Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to create and manage marketing offers, tracking programs, and storefront links. The position also lets users import and export offers and preview the store. However the user cannot set the discount or pricing for an offer. To set the discount for an offer, the user also needs the Merchandising Discount Manager role. Paths: Marketing > Offers and Programs > Manage Offers Marketing > Offers and Programs > Manage Tracking Programs Storefront > Links and Parameters > Manage Links Marketing > Offers and Programs > Import and Export Offers Hover over Preview in the toolbar at the upper-right corner of the page. Message Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to view and edit store messages. Path: Administration > System > Store Messages Note: Digital River disabled the Store Messages feature in Global Commerce.
Online Contact Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to configure the fields that appear on the escalation form. See Configuring an escalation form for more information. Path: Administration > Company > Configure Escalation Form
Online Contact Submitter	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to use and submit the escalation form. See How to submit an escalation for more information. Path: Customer Service > Tools > Submit Escalation
Page Designer	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage and view history for custom pages, use the Store Builder files, create and manage storefront links, and manage content layouts. Partner Plan Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the partner plans and related features. Path: Catalog > Pricing & Plans > Manage Partner Plans
Physical Fulfillment Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the Fulfillment Acknowledgment to acknowledge physical fulfillment. See Acknowledging product fulfillment for more information. Path: Customer Service > Fulfillment Acknowledgment
Physical Return Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the Return Acknowledgment List page for physical product returns. Path: Customer Service > Return Acknowledgment
PII Removal Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to use the remove personal information feature. See How to log the shopper's request to remove personally identifiable information (PII) for more information. Path: Customer Service > Orders
Platform Security Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to edit the override rule. Digital River internally refers to this role as priceEligibilityAprover. Note: This is a privileged role reserved for the IDM and Security team only.
Pricing Eligibility Approver	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to edit the override rule and approve or deny requests for special B2B pricing. Digital River internally refers to this role as priceEligibilityAprover. Note: This is a privileged role reserved for the IDM and Security team only.
Pricing Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows user to create ans edit price lists and volume license plans. See Managing price lists and Managing volume license plans for more information. Paths: Catalog > Pricing > Manage Price Lists Catalog > Pricing > Manage volume license plans
Private Store Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to create and manage Private Stores. Digital River internally refers to this role as purchasePlanManager.
Product Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage products.
Product Viewer	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to view products.
Reporting Manager	Company and Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to generate and view online reports for all sites owned by the company or a specific site owned by the company. See Business Navigator and Site Trends for more information. Paths: Reports > Business Navigator Reports > Site Trends Note: Site Trends also appears on the Home page in Digital River. You can set the Reporting Manager role at both the company and site level. When you set the Reporting Manager role at the company level, the user will have access to reports for all sites owned by the company. When you set the Reporting Manager role at the site level, the user will only have access to reports for that site.
Restricted Product Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage restricted products.
Revenue Scorecard	Company and Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access the revenue scorecard.
Sales Agent	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to search and view orders, shoppers, and quotes. It also allows users to view the customer's invoice, request cancellation, place an order, and resend the order confirmation email. Sales Agent Supervisor	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to search and view orders, shoppers, and quotes. It also allows users to view the customer's invoice, request cancellation, place an order, resend the order confirmation email, reset or resend the shopper's password, and edit the shopper's email and shipping addresses. Search Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users access to the enhanced search feature.
Site Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to configure offer types, use some of the Site Implementation features, create and edit Stored Parameters, view the Configure Site Settings page, configure some of the settings on that page, and preview their store and the following objects in their store: products, styles, themes, content layouts, custom pages, offers, site templates, and Site Optimizer tests. SocialStream Manager	Site	This Global Commerce user role allows users to access SocialStream.
Standard Integration Manager	Company	This Global Commerce user role allows users to manage standard integrations.
