Defining how the offer behaves

Use Behavior to you define how you want the offer to behave in your store.

Note: What you see in this step will differ based on the type of offer you create and the trigger you select.

Coupon Codes

Coupon Codes appears when you select Coupon Code as the trigger type. Use the Coupon Codes pane to select how you want to add coupon codes to the offer. Once you complete the wizard, you will be able to add, generate, or import the codes for the offer. See How to create a coupon code offer for more information on adding coupon codes to your offer.

Attribute Description
Type

Choose one of the following coupon code types:

  • Enter Coupon Codes—Select this option if you want to enter the coupon codes you want to use.

    Example: 25%off

  • Generate Coupon Codes—Select this option if you want the system to generate a set of random coupon codes based on parameters you define. System generated codes are always nine digits long.
  • Range—Select this option if you want the system to generate a range of coupon codes. The codes can have a specific prefix, and you can specify the first and the last number you want to use for the range.
  • Import Coupon Code—Select this option if you want to import a TXT file that contains the coupon codes you created or generated elsewhere.

    Note: You can associate an unlimited number of coupon codes with an offer. However, there is a limit on the number of codes you can import or generate at any single time. If you need more codes for your offer, you should perform multiple imports or generate multiple sets of codes.

You will be prompted to add the coupon codes at the end of the Create Offer wizard.

Limit Individual Coupon Usage

Select this checkbox if you want to limit the use of individual coupon codes. This only limits the number of times shoppers can use each code. If you want to limit the use of the offer itself, use the Offer Controls.

Limit how many times shoppers can redeem the offer in your store.

Bundle Options

The Bundle Option pane appears when you select All Products Bundle, Bundle, or Cross-Sell as the offer type. Use the Bundle Options pane to define the relationship between the products in the bundle. Select the options that represent how you want the parent and child products to behave in the offer. See Bundle policy for more information.

Parent and Child Removal Behavior

Choose one of the following options to define the parent and child removal behavior:

  • Parent and Child can be removed independently—The child product quantity is not tied to the parent product quantity.
  • Removing parent removes child—Removing either product (parent or child) removes both.

Appears when you select Bundle as the offer type.

Quality Behavior
Independent quantities You can remove parent and child products independently of each other.
Quantity Behavior

Choose one of the following options to define quantity behavior:

  • Independent quantities—Parent and child products can be removed independently of each other.
  • Restrict child quantity behavior—Choose one of the following options:

    • Child quantity equals parent quantity—Removing either product (parent or child) removes both.
    • Child quantity is less than or equal to parent quantity—Removing the parent product also removes the child product.

      • Increment child quantity to new parent quantity—Select this checkbox to increment the child quantity to the new parent quantity.
Bundle Policy

The options you choose for Parent and Child Removal Behavior and Quantity Behavior determines the bundle policy. The possible bundle policies are as follows:

Add a parent quantity or amount threshold Select this checkbox when you want to add a parent quantity or amount threshold. Appears when you select All Product Bundles or Bundle as the offer type.

Discount Level

Use the Discount Level pane to define where to apply the offer discount.

Attribute Description
Applies To

The discount level indicates where the system applies the offer discount.

Choose one of the following items if there is more than one:

  • Product(s) (Line Item)—Applies the discount to each product associated with the offer. Note that all products must use the same discount type.

    Example: Percent off, amount off, and so on.

  • Bundle—Applies the discount to the order total if the order meets the requirements for the offer.
  • Order—Applies the discount to the bundle total. The system will not apply the discount to products in the order that are not part of the bundle.

Shipping Discount

If you create an offer using the Discount offer type, you can optionally add a shipping discount to that offer.

The types of shipping discounts you can provide are the same as the types of shipping discount offers you can create. See Shipping Cost Discount for more information.

Attributes Description
Type

Choose one of the following options:

  • None—Choose this option when you do not want to apply a shipping discount to the products or order.
  • Discount shipping on order when a specific product is purchased—Applies a shipping discount when a shopper purchases a specific product. Choose one of the following options:

    • Shipping Product Present + Destination + Shipping Method
    • Shipping Product Present
  • Discount shipping on order regardless of product purchased—Applies a shipping discount to the order regardless of the product purchase. Choose one of the following options:

    • Shipping Product Quantity + Destination + Shipping Method
    • Shipping Order Value
    • Shipping Method
    • Shipping Destination
    • Shipping Order Value + Destination
    • Shipping Order Value + Shipping Method
    • Shipping Product Quantity

Subscription Controls

Use the Subscription Controls pane to indicate how the offer should behave when you create an offer for a subscription product. If you do not associate subscription products with the offer, the system will ignore these settings.

Note: The Subscription Controls options only appear when you enable them for your store. See How to configure site settings for subscription products.

Attribute Description
Apply To Initial Purchase When selected, the shopper can apply the offer to subscription product if this is their first (initial) purchase of the subscription.
Apply To Manual Renew When selected, the shopper can apply the offers to orders when the shopper manually renews their subscription.
Apply To Auto Renew When selected, the shopper can apply the offers to automatic renewal orders.

Offer Controls

Use the Offer Controls pane to:

  • Set usage limits on how many times shoppers can use an offer
  • Specify which locales can see and redeem the offer
  • Specify who can redeem the offer (public shoppers versus Private Store shoppers
  • Restrict deployment of the offer by role

You can notify shoppers when the offer they are using has a usage limit. See Offer Usage Limit Warning and Restrict Deployment for more information.

Attribute Description
Limit Total Usage Restrict the total usage of the offer in your store. The total number of times shoppers can redeem the offer in your store.
Total Limit

The total number of uses per offer in your store. Note that an empty field value or value of zero means unlimited use.

Example: If the Total Limit value is 500, the shoppers can use the offer can a total of 500 times in your store.

This field appears when you select the Limit Total Usage checkbox when you create an offer.

Locale Restrictions

Allows you to restrict the offer by locale. Choose one of the following options:

  • Allow Offer on All Locales—Select this option if you want to apply the offer to all supported locales.
  • Restrict Offer to Specific Locales—Select this option if you want the offer to only appears for selected locales. When you select this option, the Supported Locales pane appears.
Available For

If you have a Private Store site, you can create exclusive offers for your Private Store shoppers. To create an exclusive offer for Private Store shoppers the offer must use the always triggered or coupon code offer trigger, and you must create at least one Private Store for the site.

Choose one of the following audience options for your offer:

  • Public Shoppers—Choose this option if you only want Public Store shoppers to see the offer.
  • Purchase Plan Shoppers—Choose this option if you only want Private Store shoppers to see the offer.
  • Public and Purchase Plan Shoppers—Choose this option if you want Public store shoppers and Private Store shoppers to see this offer.

These options only appear when you have a Private Store (purchase plan) configured for your site.

Restrict to Merchandising Deployer

Controls who can deploy the offer. When selected, only a user with the Merchandising Deployment ManagerClosed This Global Commerce user role allows users to deploy offers for a site. role (or an internal user) can deploy the offer.

Note: This attribute only appears when a user selects Only Specific Offers under the Restrict Deployment on the Create Offers Type page.

Limit Individual Shopper Usage

Restrict the number of times an individual shopper can redeem this offer using the promotional URL or the coupon code trigger. These triggers require the shopper to click a link or enter a code to redeem the offer so the system can track the offer.

This field only appears when you select the Coupon Code or Promotional URL trigger type.

Options

When you select Restrict to Merchandising Deployer, you must choose one of the following options:

  • Always Restrict Deployment—Restricts the deployment of this offer to users with the Merchandising Deployment ManagerClosed This Global Commerce user role allows users to deploy offers for a site. role.
  • Restrict Until After First Deployment—Only restricts the deployment of this offer to the Merchandising Deployment Manager role until the Merchandising Deployer deploys the offer for the first time. After deploying the offer the first time, anyone will be able to deploy the offer.
  • Restrict Until Specific Date—Deployment of this offer will only be restricted until a specific date. After that date occurs, anyone will be able to deploy the offer.
  • Shopper Limit—The total number of times an individual shopper can redeem this offer.

    Example: If the Shopper Limit value is 1, a shopper can redeem the offer once.

Offer Tracking

Use the Offer Tracking pane to indicate how you will distribute the offer to shoppers.

  • General On-Site Merchandising

Supported Locales

You can restrict an offer so only shoppers in a specific locale can see and redeem the offer. By default, offers are available in all locales supported by your store. You can choose the locales that can see and redeem an offer. Only shoppers in those locales that you select for the offer will be able to see and redeem the offer in your store.

You can also localize the offer display content so that the sales pitch, offer text, and so on appears in the language for a specific locale. For more information on localizing your offers, see Localizing offers.

Example: You can choose to restrict the offer to three supported locales: the default locale of English (United States), Spanish (Mexico), and French (Canada). This means that shoppers in any other locale cannot see or redeem the offer. You can also choose a POP to show this offer on the Home Page or in a Banner Ad. You enter localized content for the supported locales when creating an offer.

Select the checkbox next to each locale that applies to this offer.

When you select a locale, you will be able to enter the localized content for that locale on the Display Content step in the Create Offer wizard.

If you do not select a checkbox for a supported locale, the shoppers for that locale will not be able to see or redeem the offer.

Subscription Controls

If your store uses subscriptions, you can create an offer for subscription products. There are some options you can use to dictate whether you want to apply an offer to initial subscription purchases and/or renewals of a subscription. This can be helpful when you use EDS or Backup Media with your offers, or when you use bundle offers with your subscription products.

Note: The Subscription Controls options only appear when enabled for your store. See How to configure site settings for subscription products for more information.

The Subscription Controls options allow you to define when you want to apply the offer to subscription orders. You can select one or more of the three different options, based on how you want the offer to behave with your subscription products.

You can use the subscription options with offers created for very specific products or offers created for all products in your catalog or all products in one or more categories.

Attribute Definition
Apply to Initial Purchase A shopper will only use the offer when they purchase a new subscription.
Apply to Manual Renew The shopper will only use this offer when they renewal they renew their subscription. It does not matter if the shopper renews the subscription or calls Customer Service to renew their subscription. Apply to Auto Renew The system applies the offer to automatic renewals of the subscription. To learn more about manual versus automatic renewal, see How subscription renewal works.
