Importing and exporting a price list

Use the Price List Import and Export page to change the pricing (in a price list) for products in a catalog. You can export a spreadsheet that contains the pricing, make the changes, and then import those changes into Global Commerce. Using the Import and Export feature is helpful when you want to change many prices at once.

How to export a price list

When updating pricing, you must first use the Import and Export feature to export a spreadsheet containing all prices within a catalog. Because a price list is associated with a catalog, you can only export the price list for the default catalog of the currently selected site. If you need to update pricing for another price list, you should change the currently selected site to the site with the default catalog for the price list you want to change.

  1. Select Catalog, select Pricing, and then click Import and Export Price Lists. The Price List Import and Export page appears.
  2. Under Export Price Lists, type name of the job in the Job Name field. The system uses the name you enter to track the import in the Job Queue. See Job queue for more information. The Job Name field does not support the following characters: ? < > : * | " ^
  3. Choose one of the following Products options:

    • All Products—Exports pricing for all products (regardless of status) in the catalog, including non-localized products.
    • Design and Deployed Products—Exports pricing for products with the Design or Deployed status.
    • Specify Product IDs—Exports pricing for only those products you specify. When you select this option, you must type the product IDs in the Product ID(s) field. If you specify more than one product ID, you must use a comma separate each product ID.
  4. Choose one of the following Currencies options:

    • All Currencies—Exports pricing in every currency supported by the site and product.
    • Specific Currencies—Exports pricing for the selected currency. When you select this option, you must select the checkbox next to each currency code that you want to export.
  5. Choose one of the following Price Lists options:

    • All Price Lists—Exports all price lists created for the currently selected site.
    • Specific Price Lists—Exports only the selected price lists. When you select this option, you must select the checkbox next to each price list that you want to export.
  6. Click Export. You can view the status in the Job Queue. (Click View Import Job Queue in the taskbar to go to the Job queue and see the status of your job.)
  7. Click the name of the Job under the Name column when the Status column shows Completed.
  8. Click the link next to Process File to download the spreadsheet.

How to edit pricing in a spreadsheet

After you export pricing, you can edit the pricing. You can only change the Zero Allowed and currency cells in the spreadsheet. The other cells are disabled.

Note: Importing the spreadsheet will fail if you modify the disabled cells.

Use the Zero Allowed column to indicate whether a user can set the product price to zero ($0). Enter TRUE in a cell if you want to allow zero pricing or FALSE if you do not want to allow zero pricing. You should only allow zero pricing if you know that (now or in the future) the product price will be set to zero.

Example: The product is a giveaway or special promotional product.

Use the other columns to enter pricing in the currencies supported by a product. In each column, enter the (fixed rate) pricing for that product in that currency. You do not have to enter a price for every currency, but you should always enter a price for the product in the default currency. If you do not enter a price for a currency, the system will convert the price for the default currency to the currency associated with the locale.
